Would anyone care to explain what this is??
Pardon ? :s
Wow, definitely don't recognise this fella...
Not sure if I'm a fan of this departure from canon, but I'm interested to find out who/what this is. I know Gehn had a mute manservant on K'veer, and he was never fully explained, but I thought he was at least D'ni. Is this a creature from another age Gehn has written? Is this meant to show, with less subtlety, just how "godlike" Gehn thinks himself? I guess since the mute's story was not explained, we can play around with his character a bit.
Is that supposed to be your take on Rijus (Gehn's mute servant) - if so, I semi-approve. In the book, Rijus was describe as being prodigiously strong - so making him semi horse(?) like is an interesting take on it.
This just took a turn towards the weird.
And I love it.
Hold on... maybe this is what Atrus "sees"... like at the beginning, with the lizard!
Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't remember the giant camel man. Did he bring cigarettes and sunglasses?
@Ahlisendar: The lizard is real, isn't it? One of the merchants even mentions it.
As for giant horse dude; at first I flinched at the canon infringement, but after thinking about it for a little bit, I'm feeling it might add some interesting moments! Can't wait to find out!
Hohoho, I like the cat reaction!
For me, the man-beast was a bit of a relief: I was worried that Gehn's whistle was gonna summon his trusty winged unicorn steed Sairaly, flying in on a rainbow meteor.
Of course, I haven't read the Book of Atrus, so I don't know any better.
Now, what I'd love to see is for Anna to take this uninvited beast down with her ninja sword!
(emor cracks himself up)
"The man stood there, holding a large, shallow basket piled high with fruit, was tall, taller even than Gehn, and had a great domed head that seemed to be made of polished ivory. He wore a baggy dark blue one-piece, tied at the waist with a length of similarly colored cord, but the most remarkable thing about him were his eyes; lidless eyes that were like blemished eggs in his otherwise undistinguished face."
I'd say there's nothing indistinguishable about this guy.
Suppose this person is Gehn's assistant. Ok, but, isn't he supposed to appear when Atrus and his father are down in K'veer ?
Probably. It's been many years since I read the book.
@moonrambler - my guess is (like with combining the battery and 'plant expirement' incident) that she's changing it a bit [I always did think it a little strange that Gehn got back to the surface on his own with just the journal - so it would make a bit more sense if he had someone with him to help move rocks and other obstructions]
@Ahlisendar: Hm... no I think the desert trader actually did have a giant lizard. They called him "Lizard Man" after all.
@mayoroftuesday: Wait... what? So there was actually a lizard the size of a school bus? O_O
