Wow! I sense this dialogue has come to a screeching halt! Great layout planning, Heather!
I also had occasion to revisit the first pages of the project this morning as I introduced a family member to it; it's quite amazing to see the changes in style since you began! I sense a lot more confidence and strength now; is that true, do you think?
Goddamnit Gehn, you are less mature than a pile of raw eggs!
And what now, you are going to sweep away with the boy like some kind of kidnapper! GOOD JOB. IM SURE D'NI ARE PROUD.
@Emor: I've been thinking about that recently. The recent pages definitely look different from the first pages. I think in the first pages I was really, REALLY impatient to get started on this project. Like if I didn't pump out these pages I was afraid it would never happen. I was also reacting to the Seated Lady, which was very detail oriented and I felt had gotten kinda stiff.
So the first pages are very sketchy. Though I did like the energy of them. So since then I feel like I've been trying to find a balance - between the energy of rougher work and the more clear and definitive linework. I feel like I've been especially happy with my process in the past few pages. :) I do feel like I'm feeling more confident and bold about the drawing.
I feel like I'm learning so much each week. I wonder what it'll look like at the end! Every page is a new trial - to keep what works, and discard what doesn't, making slight changes, the look gently evolving over time. It's nice that you noticed! Thanks for asking!! :D
@Ymedron: LOL Ymedron, you do the best Gehn heckling. He could use more people like you in his face :)
@larkinheather: I think the change in detail actually helps the mood. Before, it was as Atrus says in myst 5 "the tedious life in the cleft", but now that the plot is moving forward, things seem more concrete and a bit less mysterious. Like it's the same place, but in a whole different light.
@Ahlisendar: Interesting! I like that analogy. I like that a lot.
@larkinheather: I try my best! :DD Gehn needs some heckling to offset his pompous face!
